Sales Variance

What is Sales Variance and How to View It?

· Sales Variance is the difference between the actual sales and the forecasted sales.

· It is used to analyse and understand market behaviour in a better way.

· Sales Variance Screen has a tree structure with Products and regions with respect to forecast.

· Sales Variance screen is to compare Source Period Data with Current Year Data and Previous year data.

· The tree structure shown in the Sales Variance screen will be generated from Product Master and Product Details.

· Tree panel will have options to Search Products, View Description, Enable Multi-select etc as in the Forecast Plan. Refer Forecast Plan.

· If the user specifies Source, Current and Previous period in Forecast Period, it will take the data from the Forecast Demand Data table and compare or if the user specifies a history data, it will take the values from the Forecast Sales History table.

· User can compare the Variance based on Percentage and Quantity.

· Select the Product and Region. Enter the Source Period, Current Year and Previous Year Dates.

· Select the Data Measure for which the user wishes to display the variance. Click the Show button.

· The Sales Variance screen displays the difference between the Source Period and Current/Previous Period data.

· If the user enters Variance, the difference will be shown in Percentage.

· If the user enters Quantity, the difference will be shown in Units.

· User can specify the Variance or Quantity which will filter the display of Sales Variance.

· Suppose, the user wants to display the products with a Quantity Variance of 10 – 400. The user has to specify the same in the Quantity field. Products with Quantity Variance between 10 and 400 will be shown.

· If there is no product with the specified Quantity variance, then the Sales Variance screen will be empty. The same is true with Variance.

Multi-Select

· If the user selects more than 1 Product, then the Sales Variance will be shown for all selected products on a single screen.

· User can then give values for Variance and Quantity. Sales Variance will be shown only for the specified values in Variance and Quantity.

· In the figure above, the user has selected 4 Products, but only 2 products are displayed in Sales Variance Screen.

· Products with a Variance between 10 – 90 and Quantity Variance between 10 – 400 are displayed in the Sales Variance as specified.

Save Filter

· Click on the Save Filter button save.

· User can save any combination of Product and Region. The same will be displayed when the User reopens the Sales Variance Screen.
